REINTRODUCING A BRAND

Over 20 years ago the Volkswagen Microbus left North America, leaving behind an indelible mark on our culture and a cult following among fans from everywhere between New York and San Francisco. After years of teasing a return to American shores, VW did just that — literally! — debuting the ID. Buzz in Surf City USA (Huntington Beach, California). At seeds our mission was simple: help the modern magical Microbus make waves— and history — at its launch at the first ever International Volkswagen Bus Day.

 With the ID. Buzz our approach was to take the retro design cues that called back to the original vehicle that captured a generation’s imagination, and marry them with cutting-edge EV technology built for a new electric future. The result? A launch video celebrating the drivers and dreamers who changed the world, and introducing old-school cool to a new generation.
